POSITION SUMMARY:

Deconic, the jewelry division of Brooks Brothers, seeks an Associate Designer for the Carolee brand, located in our New York City showroom.

In this highly creative role, you will work within a team environment to conceptualize new product for the Carolee brand and work to refine all designs for approval, produce executable mechanical drawings to be sampled overseas as well as hand-manipulate designs to show for approval. The ideal candidate will be forward thinking, extremely knowledgeable of fashion trends, entrepreneurially-minded self-starters with a demonstrated passion for beautiful design and strong ability to translate specific brand aesthetic.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Mechanically draws or renders approved sketches into technical drawings and manipulate parts into finished designs to provide blueprints for development of designs.
-Ensures all technical drawings are complete with measurements, functionality clarification through live sample or component or additional illustration, material and color references
-Works to ensure that all calendar deadlines are met with regard to design concepts, design turnovers, timely submission of design comments on first, second and final samples
-Understands and demonstrates sensitivity to pricing constraints for materials, components and target costs of finished styles as it relates to the brands pricing structure
-Partners with Product Development and Merchandising on vendor communication to solve pricing and product construction issues that arise during the product cycle

Skills & Requirements

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:

-Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design plus 2 years work experience or equivalent 4-6 years experience
-Proficiency in creating designs & technical specs on Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Rhino
-Keen ability to identify and respond to emerging fashion trends in the jewelry market as well as the fashion industry
-Ability to work independently in addition to the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple cross functional teams.
-Strong problem -solving skills
-Must demonstrate a high level of creativity, attention to detail and efficiency while working under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously
-Adhere to project schedules and effectively meet deadlines
-Must be willing to work in Industry City, Brooklyn and mid-town Manhattan
-Potential for occasional overseas travel
